As soon as you know you will not be able to make your scheduled volunteer shift, call the House and ask to speak with the Manager on Duty.
Can volunteers donate food to the House or prepare a meal for the House?
Yes! Anyone who is interested in donating food to the House should work with Director of Operations. All food for snacks and meals must be prepared at the House in one of our kitchens, brought in from a commercial kitchen (like a restaurant), or prepackaged from a grocery store. The House cannot accept food that has been prepared at your home or in a non-commercial kitchen. We provide meals for the residents several days each week.
What is the dress code for volunteering at the the front desk?
Business casual. Jeans are fine as long as there are no holes. We want you to be comfortable.
How old do you have to be to volunteer?
To volunteer at the front desk, one must be at least 18 years old. Contact our Director of Development for questions about age restrictions for volunteers at our fundraising events. Minors are able to help prepare meals for the House but must be accompanied and supervised by an adult.
What is the turnaround time to start volunteering after I apply?
Typically one week. You will always receive a response from the Director of Operations concerning your application.
