Rainbow over the RMHC Tulsa

Since opening on October 4, 1991, The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tulsa, Inc. has truly been a community effort and was developed to provide a homelike atmosphere for families facing the stress of medical treatment for their child. Families are able to share their concerns, experiences, and fears with others facing similar circumstances.

The Ronald McDonald House of Tulsa is a “home-away-from-home” for families who’s child is receiving care in Tulsa area hospitals including:

  • Hillcrest Medical Center
  • Hillcrest Medical Center South
  • Laureate
  • Oklahoma State University Medical Center
  • Riverside
  • Children’s Hospital at Saint Francis
  • Saint Francis Hospital
  • Saint Francis Hospital South
  • Shadow Mountain
  • St. John Medical Center

The House is adjacent to Saint Francis Hospital on 61st Street between Yale and Sheridan. The two-story brick atrium building includes 24 private bedrooms, a double kitchen, special needs kitchen, dining room, meeting areas, business offices, resident manager quarters, playrooms, laundry, and outside play area.

Each year, hundreds of children travel to Tulsa to be treated for serious illnesses. For their families, anxiety over the child’s illness is often compounded by lengthy hospital stays, months of outpatient treatment, and the expense of being away from home.

To be with their children, families including brothers, sisters, and grandparents can spend their days and nights in hotels or in hospital lounges. Removed from relatives and friends, families need a warm, loving place to be with their children during the outpatient treatment period.

RMHC of Tulsa, Inc. answers this need and provides a place where the whole family can stay in a home-like environment. Families find support as they share with other families who are also undergoing the trauma of childhood illness.

The House operates through its Board of Directors and Advisory Board, comprised of volunteers – parents, health professionals, McDonald’s representatives, community volunteers, business and civic leaders – all working together to provide this much-needed facility for families during their time of need.

The House is an independent, non-profit corporation, locally owned and operated by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Tulsa, Inc., and is entirely dependent upon donations.
